    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

    Arrangement Session: This course covers the basic principles of design for contemporary, classic and geometric floral arranging. We will be identifying and working with fresh cut flowers and foliage. Complete instructions will be given for rose arrangements, carnation arrangements, mixed spring and fall arrangements, centerpieces, church and hospital arrangements, floral designs for entertaining, including sit-down dinners and buffet arrangements and flemish style designs. A session on the European style of floral design and identification of Holland flowers will also be instructed. The tuition for the floral arrangement session is $296. All supplies are furnished by the school and students may take their arrangements home at the end of each class. A certificate will be awarded to each student upon completion of this session. The floral arrangement session is a ten hour course.

    Wedding Session: This course covers the complete construction of bridal and attendant wedding bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres and hairpieces made of roses, daises, carnations, orchids, mixed spring and Holland flowers and silks. There will also be instructions for nosegays, wrist corsages and bow making techniques. The wedding segment will include church and reception decorating, cake decorating with fresh flowers and garden weddings. The tuition for this class is $296. All supplies are furnished by the school and students may take their wedding bouquets, corsages and hairpieces home at the end of each class. A certificate will be awarded to each student upon completion of this session. The wedding session is a ten hour course.

    Shop Management and Sympathy Class: In order to enroll in the shop management and sympathy class, a student must first complete the arrangement and wedding sessions; however, a student may attend all three classes simultaneously. The tuition for this course is $296.

    The sympathy portion of this class will include standing and flat sprays, casket sprays and designer tributes. There will also be a discussion on meeting with the family of the deceased.

    During the shop management portion, we will cover the processing and care of cut flowers and foliages, supplier sources, care of green and blooming plants, wire service membership and servicing of wire orders, window and sales area displaying, buying and pricing and markup formulas. Telephone salesmanship, advertising, new business promotion and the process of opening a new florist, including assumed name, sales tax and agriculture license information will also be included. A certificate will be awarded to each student upon completion of this session. The shop management and sympathy class is a ten hour course.
